Abilify Information

Abilify is an anti-psychotic (atypical) and anti-depressant drug. It is primarily used for the treatment of patients with schizophrenia and irritability caused by autistic disorder. The drug is used as monotherapy as well as adjunctive therapy for the treatment of bipolar I disorder. It is also used as an adjunctive therapy for treating major depressive disorder (MDD). The generic drug is effective in treating agitation caused by bipolar I mania and schizophrenia. The drug is a partial agonist of dopamine receptors and an antagonist of serotonin receptors. Thus, the drug acts on these chemicals of the brain. Being a prescription drug, cheap Abilify can be bought from any pharmacy.

Abilify Side Effects and Precautions

Common (and less serious) side effects of Aripiprazole are drowsiness, dizziness, headache, anxiety, insomnia (sleeping problems), trouble in swallowing (or choking), constipation, weight gain or mild upset stomach. Inform your doctor if you have any of the side effects with Abilify. Serious side effects of the drug include body pain, chills, fever, symptoms of flu, sores/white patches on lips or inside the mouth, drowsiness, nausea/vomiting, dry skin, loss of appetite, jaundice-like signs/symptoms or increase in thirst. Aripiprazole may also cause seizures, thoughts of hurting oneself, feelings of dizziness, urinating less/more than usual, fever, muscle stiffness, confusion, uneven heartbeat (slow/fast), jerky muscle-movements or jaundice like symptoms. Dosage Information For Abilify

For treating schizophrenia the starting dose of Abilify is recommended as 10 mg/day - 15 mg/day, once a day. For treating bipolar I disorder the recommended dose is 15 mg, once a day for adults and 10 mg/day - 30 mg/day for pediatric patients as an adjunctive therapy. For treating MDD and irritability (with autism) the recommended dose is 2 mg/day - 5 mg/day; with a maximum dose of 15 mg/day.
