Anzemet Information
Anzemet is an antiemetic medication. It is an antagonist to serotonin receptor (5-HT3 receptor). It is used for the prevention of nausea/ vomiting which is caused due to cancer chemotherapy. The drug is effective in moderate emetogenic chemotherapy. It is also helpful in the initial stages as well as repeated therapies. Additionally generic drug is effective in preventing nausea/ vomiting that is caused after surgery. The drug acts on the 5-HT3 receptor on nerve-terminals and inhibits the serotonin mediated nausea/ vomiting, which is caused by the cancer chemotherapy. Dosage Information For Anzemet
For preventing nausea/ vomiting pediatric patients (2-16 years of age) 1.8 mg/kg of Anzemet is administered 1 hour prior to chemotherapy and 1.2 mg/kg is administered 2 hours before a surgery. In adults, preventing nausea/ vomiting 100 mg is administered 1 hour prior to chemotherapy and 100 mg is administered 1 hour prior to a surgery.
