Apidra Information
Apidra is an insulin analogue which is rapid acting and it differs from human insulin but is equipotent te human insulin. It is used for the management of diabetes mellitus in adults as well as in children. The drug is effective in improving the glycemic controls in the body. The primary activity of the generic insulin analogue is to regulate the metabolism of glucose in the body. The insulin stimulates the reuptake of peripheral glucose by the skeletal muscles as well as fat. The insulin also inhibits the hepatic production of glucose. Apidra Side Effects and Precautions
After administering Insulin Glulisine, if you have convulsions (or seizures) or if you become unconscious, then contact your doctor immediately. The most common side effect of insulin is low blood-sugar (or hypoglycemia). This may in-turn lead to other effects of Apidra such as anxiety, chills, blurred vision, confusion, dizziness, depression, pale appearance of skin, slurred speech, shakiness, nightmares, nervousness, increased hunger, headache or weakness. Insulin Glulisine may also lead to some rare side effects such as hives, depression of the skin (at the site of injection), decreased blood pressure or accumulation of fat in the body. Other rare effects are bleeding/ burning/ blistering/ coldness/ discoloration of the skin and changes to the skin where the injection is administered. Dosage Information For Apidra
The usual dosage of Apidra is 0.5 unit/kg per day or 1 unit/kg per day. However, the amount of insulin required on a daily basis depends upon an individual patient.
