Dovonex Information

Dovonex is a synthetic-calcitriol derivative (or vitamin-D derivative). It is used for the treatment of patients with plaque psoriasis. It is recommended for treatment in adults only. It is not meant for any other dermatoses except for psoriasis. It is used topically in the form of cream, lotion or ointment. The mode of action of generic drug has not been clearly understood. However, it is suggested that the drug binds to the vitamin-D receptors and modulates the gene transcription of the T-cells. This in-turn affects the cell proliferation and differentiation. Dovonex Side Effects and Precautions

After starting the treatment with Calcipotriol, if you have allergic reactions (which are rare in occurrence) then get medical help as soon as possible. These reactions maybe swelling in the tongue, face or lips, problem with breathing, closing of the throat or hives. Also, Dovonex may lead to common side effects such as reddening, itching, swelling, burning, peeling or dryness of the skin which is being treated with the drug.
