Effient Information
Effient is a platelet inhibitor drug. It is used for reducing the rate of cardiovascular (CV) thrombotic events. This is desired in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS). The drug is effective in patients who are on PCI, (percutaneous coronary intervention) in order to manage their ACS. The generic drug is used for patients with angina (unstable) or patients with NSTEMI (non-ST elevation myocardial infarction). The drug acts by inhibiting the activation as well as aggregation of the platelet. This happens by an irreversible binding to the receptors present on the platelets. Effient Side Effects and Precautions
Common side effects of Prasugrel are dizziness, mild headache, mild chest pain, back pain, nausea, tiredness, cough or nausea.
