Ella Information

Ella is referred to as SPRM which is selective progesterone receptor modulator. It is an emergency contraceptive drug. It is used for preventing pregnancy, only when taken within 5 days (or 120 hours) after an intercourse or contraceptive failure. The drug is preferred for administration after an unprotected intercourse. Also, generic drug is used when a contraceptive failure is suspected. It acts by selectively blocking the progesterone (reversibly) in tissues such as ovaries, cervix, hypothalamus or uterus. The drug is not recommended for regular use and it cannot replace the other methods of contraception. Ella is a prescription drug.

Ella Side Effects and Precautions

Most commonly reported side effects of Ulipristal include stomach pain, abdominal pain, nausea, headache, dizziness, tiredness and dysmenorrhea (or menstrual pain). These are less serious side effects which may or may not occur. Some patients (women) may experience that the following menstrual period occurs earlier than usual after taking Ella. If any of the side effects become bothersome then get medical help at once. It is not recommended for nursing women to administer the drug. Let your doctor know if you are taking any other medication Ulipristal is administered. Dosage Information For Ella

Ella emergency contraceptive is administered orally in the form of a tablet. The tablet can be taken with food or without food. The recommended dose of the drug is only 1 tablet.
