Epivir Information
Epivir is referred to as a synthetic NRTI drug (which means nucleoside analog reverse transcriptase inhibitor). The drug is an anti-retroviral drug. It is used for the treatment of patients with HIV-1 infection (human immunodeficiency virus). The drug is not for treating HBV infection. The generic drug may be used as a single agent or in combination with other anti-retroviral drugs. The metabolites of the drug are incorporated in the DNA of the virus.
