Humatin Information
Humatin is a broad spectrum antibiotic produced by an organism called Streptomyces rimosus. It is classified under a group of aminoglycoside antibiotics. It is used to treat both acute (sudden attack) and chronic (long term) intestinal amoebiasis. Like the brand, the generic form of Humatin works by preventing or inhibiting the growth of the parasite causing amoebiasis. It is also used as an adjunctive therapy in hepatic coma where the brain is affected in people with liver disease, due to excess of ammonia in the body. Here its action is to prevent the growth of certain bacteria in the intestines that produce ammonia, which is the cause of liver damage. Humatin Side Effects and Precautions
