Invirase Information

Invirase is an anti-HIV (anti-human immunodeficiency virus) medicine from a group of drugs called protease inhibitors, used in people who are above 16 years of age. HIV-1 is the virus that causes AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome). Be it the brand or the generic drug, it is used with another anti-HIV drug called ritonavir and other anti-HIV medicines to treat people with HIV-1 infection. When given with ritonavir, it inhibits Invirase's metabolism to provide increased plasma Invirase levels. Cheap Invirase can be purchased from some medical stores near you with a prescription and from certain online stores.

Invirase Side Effects and Precautions

Saquinavir should not be taken by patients who have been told by the doctor of having a condition called Congenital Long QT Syndrome, complete AV (atrioventricular) block with no pacemaker or patients at risk for complete AV block. Patients with liver problems, those allergic to Saquinavir and those with low potassium or low magnesium levels in the blood should not take it.

In case you find signs of an allergic reaction like hives, difficult breathing, irregular/rapid heartbeats, swelling of face, lips, tongue or throat, stop taking the drug and call for medical help at once. You may even find large blisters, peeling of skin, red rashes, fever, sore throat, headache, fainting increased urination or increased thirst, easy bleeding or bruising. The most common side effects of Invirase are nausea vomiting, loose stools, abdominal pain, exhaustion and pneumonia. Get yourself thoroughly checked by your doctor for suitability to the drug before you buy Invirase.

Dosage Information For Invirase

Adults over 16 years of age may be dosed with Invirase 1000 mg twice a day. This is given in combination with ritonavir 100 mg twice a day. If the patient is on a combination drug lopinavir/ritonavir even then his dosage of Invirase remains the 1000 mg twice a day and no additional ritonavir is given. Both the drugs should be taken at the same time but within 2 hours of a meal. You can get discount Invirase from North Drug Mart in 200 mg and 400 mg strengths.
