Maxalt MLT is a triptan drug and it is an agonist to the 5-HT1 receptors. It is used for treating a migraine headache. It is recommended in adult patients who have a migraine attack that may be with or without aura. However, the drug is not meant for prophylactic treatment of the condition. By acting upon the 5-HT1 receptor types (5-HT1B as well as 5-HT1D) generic drug contracts the blood vessels that are around the brain.
