Mirapex ER is a drug that is used for the treatment as well as management of symptoms that are associated with Parkinson's disease (PD). It is effectively used for treating those patients who have idiopathic-PD. The drug is in the form of extended release tablets and it is a prescription drug. This generic drug acts by acting upon the dopamine receptors namely, D2, D3 and D4. By inhibiting these receptors, the drug stimulates the low functioning dopamine-receptors. This helps in restoring the low-functioning signals of the dopamine receptors. This is a desirable effect for treating the symptoms of PD.
