Ranexa Information
Ranexa is referred to as an anti-angina drug. The drug is used for treating patients having chronic angina. The drug may be used alone or with other agents such as nitrates, beta blockers, CCBs (calcium channel blockers), ACE inhibitors, lipid-lowering therapy, anti-platelet therapy or angiotensin-receptor blocker. The mode of this generic drug's action is not clearly known. The drug however acts by altering the sodium current. By doing this the drug alters the intracellular levels of calcium during ischemia. Ranexa Side Effects and Precautions
After taking Ranolazine you may experience allergic reactions such as difficult breathing, hives or swelling. Let your doctor know as soon as you have any signs of these allergic reactions. The serious effects of Ranexa are fainting-like feeling, swelling of your feet, ankles or hands, tremors, pounding heartbeats, irregular (slow/ fast) heartbeats, blood in urine, no urination or less urination (than usual).
Other serious effects of Ranolazine are skin rashes, numbness, muscle weakness, severe tingling, bruising, pain or breathing difficulty (or shortness). Common side effects of the drug are dry mouth, ringing in ears, mild nausea, stomach pain, vomiting, constipation, mild dizziness or headache. Dosage Information For Ranexa
The dose of Ranexa is recommended on the basis of the clinical symptoms presented by the patient. However, the initial dose is recommended to be 500 mg which is administered twice daily. Besides, the dose is increased to 1000 mg based on the patient's symptoms and response. This dose of 1000 mg is also taken daily twice. However, the dose should not exceed more than 1000 mg.
