Rapamune is a macrolide agent, which is referred to as an immuno-suppressive drug. The drug is used as prophylactic therapy for patients who have undergone an organ transplant. The drug helps in preventing organ rejection. It is used in patients who are > 13 years of age, who have undergoing renal transplant. The generic drug inhibits the production of antibodies. Besides, it inhibits the activation as well as proliferation of the T-lymphocytes. This leads to the inhibition of the phase-progression in the cell cycle.
