Description of Estraderm

Estraderm is a form of estrogen used to treat certain menopausal symptoms including itching, burning and dryness in and around the vagina. The generic name of the drug is Estradiol Transdermal.

You must buy Estraderm as per the directions of your doctor. Read the instructions in the leaflet before you use the skin patch. You must apply the skin patch on a clean and dry area. Apply Estraderm on the stomach, buttocks or lower back. You must keep the patch on your skin and press it for 10 seconds. Make sure that you are not keeping it in such an area where it will be peeled off due to tight clothing. Don’t use Estraderm patch on your breast. If the patch peels off, try putting it back on a new area by pressing for 10 seconds.

Indications & Dosage of Estraderm

Estraderm is also used to treat infertility, ovarian disorders, and vaginal bleeding along with menopausal symptoms. It produces estrogen in women, which are essential for regulating many processes in the body.

The dosage of Estraderm depends on the medical condition of the patient and the response to treatment. You must not use the patch in excess or in lower quantities than prescribed by the doctor. Estraderm must be applied on the skin immediately after removing the protective cover. The drug in the patch is slowly absorbed by the body. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is time for the next dose, avoid the skipped dose. Don’t take an overdose of Estraderm. The main symptoms of an overdose are vomiting, nausea and vaginal bleeding. Seek immediate medical help in case of an overdose. You must not wear Estraderm while undergoing magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), as it may burn your body. Remove the skin patch before going for an MRI.

You must store Estraderm at room temperature, away from heat, moisture and direct sunlight. Keep it away from the reach of children.
