Advicor is a hypolipidemic drug which belongs to the statins class of drugs. The drug is available in the form of extended-release tablets. It is used for the treatment of hypercholesterolemia. It is also used as a secondary prevention events related to cardiovascular diseases, especially in patients who have a history of MI (myocardial infarction) or hypercholesterolemia. Also, generic used for treating hypertriglyceridemia. The drug is a combination of 2 components. One component acts by inhibiting the fatty acids’ release from the adipose tissue. Dosage Information For Advicor
The recommended dose of Advicor for week 1 to week 4 is one tablet of 500 mg to be administered once at bedtime. Based on the patient’s response, the dose of the drug may be increased to 1500 mg (2 tablets of 760 mg each or 3 tablets of 500 mg each). The maximum dose is 2000 mg and should not be exceeded.
