Description of Cancidas

The generic name of Cancidas is caspofugin Acetate. It belongs to the Echinocandins class of medications. It is an antifungal drug. You can buy Cancidas online in the following forms:

Indications & Dosage of Cancidas

Cancidas treats fungal infections in the lungs, stomach, esophagus and other internal organs. It works by inhibiting glucan synthesis in the cell wall. Cancidas is administered via an intravenous infusion. The powder must be properly mixed with a diluent. Don’t self-inject Cancidas without proper knowledge of the procedure, IV tubing, disposal of needles etc.

Liquids containing glucose or dextrose should not be mixed with the powder.

Caspofugin powder is to be stored in the refrigerator but not frozen. Before mixing the powder with liquid, take it out and let it to set at room temperature.

The initial recommended dosage in adults is 50 mg daily. If this dosage is well tolerated but doesn’t show significant results, it can be increased to 70 mg daily. Usually, it is administered for at least 14 days.

In empirical therapy, Candidemia, and other Candida infections, a 70 mg dose is given on Day 1 and 50 mg daily thereafter.

In patients with hepatic impairment, the recommended dosage is 35 mg daily. However, 70 mg is administered (if recommended) on day 1.

Side Effects & Interactions of Cancidas

Cancidas is a pregnancy category C drug. Though it is not clear whether the drug is harmful for an unborn baby, you must inform the doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding before taking Cancidas.
