Geodon information

Geodon is a second generation antipsychotic agent used to treat bipolar disorders and schizophrenia. It may be used as an adjuvant to lithium or valproate to prevent the return of bipolar episodes. The generic drug may be used singly to treat agitation of schizophrenics and acute episodes of mania or mixed episodes. It works by creating a balance in the normal chemical substances called neurotransmitters in the brain. It is available as capsules and as intramuscular injections. Cheap Geodon may be obtained from many medical stores and even online stores.

Geodon Side Effects and Precautions

Ziprasidone may cause side effects like headache, loss of appetite, constipation/diarrhea, weight gain, running nose, cough, rashes/hives, and/or restlessness and anxiety. Further, chest pains, painful incessant penile erections, either sleeplessness or increased sleep, lightheadedness, neuroleptic malignant syndrome(a potentially fatal syndrome associated with blockade of certain chemical receptors in the hypothalamus and basal ganglia and sympathetic dysregulation) and akathisia (feeling of restlessness associated with increased motor activity) may be produced by Ziprasidone.

Some temporary speech disorders may be rarely seen. There may also be a risk of developing hyperglycemia and Type II diabetes. Before taking Geodon inform your doctor if you are allergic to it. Inform your doctor about all the diseases you've had in the past and the medicines you have taken before. Geodon should not be used by patients with kidney or liver diseases. Before you buy Geodon check the contents to know if you are allergic to any of them.

Dosage Information for Geodon

In schizophrenia, oral Geodon is used between 20 mg to 80 mg (not safe above 100 mg). Intramuscular injections of 10 mg every 2 hours or 20 mg every 4 hours (maximum 40 mg/day) are used during acute attacks of schizophrenics. If continued treatment is required, then oral Geodon should replace the intramuscular injections at the earliest. In bipolar disorders the oral dosage is between 40 mg to 80 mg twice a day. Discount Geodon can be procured in doses of 100 mg and 400 mg from North Drug Mart.
