Maxalt is an agonist of 5-HT1 and it is a triptan drug. It is used for treating adult patients with migraine attacks (with aura/without aura). It is not used as a prophylactic therapy for migraine attacks. It is only a medication for headaches. The generic drug acts upon the receptors called 5-HT1B and 5-HT1D. By doing this the drug induces constriction of the cranial blood-vessels. Thus, the drug acts by making the blood vessels narrow around the patient's brain. Additionally, the drug reduces those substances that may trigger the headache or any other symptoms of migraine. Maxalt Side Effects and Precautions

You may experience common side-effects associated with Rizatriptan. Dosage Information For Maxalt
