Myfortic is an immunosuppressant agent. It is used as a prophylactic therapy for organ rejection. It is recommended for patients who are receiving allogeneic-renal transplants. The drug is administered in combination with other drugs such as cyclosporine or corticosteroids. The generic drug is a selective and reversible-inhibitor of IMPDH (that is inosine monophosphate dehydrogenase). By doing this the drug inhibits the T-lymphocytes and B- lymphocytes. Also, it suppresses the formation of antibodies by the B- lymphocytes. It also inhibits the leukocyte recruitment into the inflammation-site and inhibits graft rejection. Myfortic Side Effects and Precautions
Less serious side-effects of Mycophenolic Acid may include stomach pain/ upset, nausea, vomiting, constipation, swelling in the hands and/or feet, dizziness, blurred vision, headache, back pain, joint pain, muscle pain, cough, runny/ stuffy nose, insomnia or anxiety.
