Oxistat Information

Oxistat is an anti-fungal drug. It is used topically and administered in the form of cream (or lotion). It is used for the treatment of tinea crutis, tinea corporis and tinea pedia in adults and children. In the pediatric population, the drug is also used to treat tinea versicolor. The generic drug is also indicated for treating several infections like jock itch, ringworm and athlete’s foot. The drug acts by inhibiting the biosynthesis of ergosterol in fungi. The biosynthesis of this ergosterol is necessary for the integrity of the cytoplasmic membrane of the fungi.
