Patanol Eye Drops Information

Patanol eye drops belong to a group of selective histamine H1-antagonists that inhibit Type I immediate hypersensitivity reactions. Type I hypersensitivity reaction is the immediate reaction in response to exposure to unfavourable stimuli. The brand or generic form contains 1.0 mg/ ml of a substance called Olopatadine which stabilizes human conjunctival tissue mast cells, prevents the release of histamine and other inflammatory mediators. It also prevents human conjunctival mast and epithelial cells from releasing pro-inflammatory mediators. Patanol eye drops are chiefly indicated in treating the signs and symptoms of allergic conjunctivitis that produce redness, itching and watering of eyes.
