Prometrium Information

Prometrium is a drug that belongs to the hormones-class called progestogens. This is a naturally occurring hormone in humans. The hormone supports gestation/ pregnancy, regulates menstrual cycle and is responsible for embryogenesis. The drug is used in post-menopausal women for preventing endometrial hyperplasia, especially in those women who have not undergone hysterectomy. Secondly, the generic drug is also useful in treating secondary amenorrhea. The drug is used for preventing the over-growth of the uterus lining in post-menopausal women, especially those who are on estrogen-HRT (hormone replacement therapy).
