Glumetza Information

Glumetza is a drug used singly or along with other medicines including insulin to treat Type 2 diabetes (inability to control the amount of blood glucose due to improper usage of insulin). The generic form helps to control glucose in the blood by decreasing the amount of glucose absorbed from food by the intestines and lowering the amount of insulin produced by the liver. It also helps by increasing the body's response to insulin which is a natural substance that controls blood glucose.

Glumetza Side Effects and Precautions

Metformin may cause hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) which causes increased sweating, dizziness, trembling, headache, mood changes, nervousness, paleness of skin. Get medical help immediately if symptoms like confusion, seizures or loss of consciousness. Side effects of Metformin include indigestion, vomiting, heartburn, bloating, diarrhea/constipation, unpleasant taste in the mouth, headache, sneezing, running nose, cough, flushes in the skin and muscular pains.

Call your doctor immediately if you have chest pain or rashes. Glumetza may rarely cause a serious condition called lactic acidosis due to its action on the liver. Give details about conditions like heart attacks, high blood pressure, diseases of liver kidneys and heart in the past. Before any surgery, inform your doctor if you are taking Glumetza. Before you administer or buy Glumetza let your doctor know if you are allergic to it.

Dosage Information For Glumetza
