Purinethol Information

Purinethol is a thiopurine drug. It is an immune-suppressive agent. It is used as a maintenance therapy for acute lymphatic-leukemia (including lymphocytic and lymphoblastic leukemia). The drug is used in a combination regimen. However, the drug is not used for treatment or prophylaxis of CNS (central nervous system) leukemia. The generic drug's ribonucleotide acts by inhibiting the synthesis as well as metabolism of the purine nucleotides. This leads to alterations in the synthesis and functioning of the DNA and RNA. Thus, the drug interferes with the inter-conversion of nucleotide and synthesis of glycoprotein. Now many reputed pharmacy stores have cheap Purinethol available.
