General Information on Singulair chewable

Singulair chewable is used to prevent asthma attacks in adults and children as young as 12 months old. It is even used to relieve sneezing and runny nose caused by allergies in adults and children as young as 6 months old. The generic name of this drug is Montelukast.

Each 4mg Singulair chewable tablet and 5mg Singulair chewable tablet contains 4mg Montelukast and 5mg Montelukast respectively. Both have the following inactive ingredients; hydroxypropyl cellulose, microcrystalline cellulose, mannitol, croscarmellose sodium, aspartame, magnesium stearate and red ferric oxide. This medication is available as 4mg Singulair chewable tablets, 5mg Singulair chewable tablets, 4mg Singulair oral granules and 10 mg Singulair tablets.

Side effects of Singulair chewable

Pediatric patients from 2 to 5 years of age should take one 4mg Singulair chewable tablet a day or one packet of 4mg Singulair oral granules a day. Pediatric patients from 12 to 23 months of age should take one pack of 4mg Singulair oral granules a day.

In seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis, the dose for adults and adolescents 15 years of age or older is 10 mg Singulair tablet a day. The dose for pediatric patients from 6 to 14 years of age is one 5mg Singulair chewable tablet a day. For pediatric patients from 2 to 5 years of age the dose is one 4mg Singulair chewable tablet or one packet of 4mg Singulair oral granules. For pediatric patients from 6 to 23 months of age with perennial allergic rhinitis is 4mg Singulair oral granules a day.

In case of a missed dose, a patient should use the medication as soon as he or she remembers. You can return to your normal medicine schedule if it is almost time for the next dose of Singulair chewable. In case of an overdose, symptoms such as hallucinations, muscle stiffness, blurred vision, and uneven heartbeats may occur and emergency medical help would be needed.
